    NANCY C. RIGHTER SERVICE AWARD

The Nancy C. Righter Service Award celebrates a NJAWBO member whom, in service and dedication to NJAWBO and community, best exemplifies the spirit and energy of Nancy C. Righter. Nancy served as the Atlantic Chapter President and the State Membership Chair. She was the energy behind the development of the NJAWBO "Courtesy & You" Program. In 1991, Nancy C. Righter died as a result of an auto accident at a very young age while serving on NJAWBO's Board as the Awards Chair.

    Nancy C. Righter Pin

New Nancy C. Righter Pin embodies true spirit.
Beginning in 2003 recipients of the award will receive a new pin designed to embody the true spirit of the award. Gold was used as a way to transfer energy, celebrate thankfulness and encourage the realization of one s potential. Teal Crystal, in the NJAWBO tradition, is used to show inspiration, while the cubic zirconia is used to symbolize unyielding and invincible strength.

The Teal Heart is a long standing symbol of NJAWBO members who unselfishly dedicate time and energy for the betterment of other business owners. The NCR pin uses three interrelated hearts as our ultimate symbol for dedication. Hearts show the power of courage and love that allow us to stand up and face our daily battles. The large heart is formed using a knotted pattern of gold to represent permanence, the connection to others and the continuity of life, love and faith.

Pin is designed by Karen Miller of KHM Designs of Lawrenceville, NJ, a recent member of the Mercer County chapter of NJAWBO.

The Nancy C. Righter Service Award recipient will be selected from among the Teal Heart Awardees of the previous year (March 31st through Feb. 28/29th). She will be the person who best exemplifies outstanding service and dedication, which resembles in spirit and energy that of Nancy C. Righter.

The Chapter needs to provide the following for each Teal Heart winner:

    1. A written explanation of why the member deserved the Teal Heart Award and why she further deserves the Nancy C. Righter Service Award.

    2. A 3 x 5 photo of each recipient along with her name, company name, Chapter name, current NJAWBO position(s).

NJAWBO would like to congratulate Ellen Silverman of Ellen Silverman Associates, a Middlesex-Somerset Chapter Member as the 2005 recipient of the Nancy C. Righter Award.

    TEAL HEART AWARD

The Teal Heart Award is a NJAWBO service award. The purpose of this Award is to acknowledge members for outstanding service and dedication to the State and Chapters, to provide public recognition of members' achievement, and to inspire the NJAWBO general membership to take initiative in projects which will further NJAWBO's goals and objectives.

    The following are Award guidelines:

    1. This Award is to be given to provide extra recognition for a State Board or Chapter member. Although the State Board and Chapter may give up to four Teal Heart Awards in a given year, this is such a very special and prestigious Award, it should be given only to those members that do above and beyond the call.

    2. State Board or Chapter members can nominate the candidates. The State or Chapter Awards Committee will review the candidate(s) and make a recommendation to its Board, who will then vote to accept the candidate(s).

    3. Members may receive the Award no more than once every three years.

    4. The Award must be personally presented to the recipient at the State or Chapter meeting, with a statement explaining why the member was selected. The Award may not be mailed to the recipient.

    5. The names of Teal Heart recipients will be published in the Award program at the State Conference. A photo display will be presented at the Conference.

    6. Each State and Chapter Teal Heart recipient will be eligible to win the Nancy C. Richter Service Award for that year.
