ANTONELLA ROMANO, known as the Tile Oracle and author of the monthly column “the Tile Commandments,” is the owner of Stone and Tile Emporium. A leader in the marble industry, Antonella specializes in bringing old-world Italian craft to the realities of modern day construction.

A third-generation tile designer, from a legendary Italian stone manufacturing family known for introducing granite countertops to the United States in the 1970's, Antonella is an expert on every aspect of stone and tile, from design and installation to geology and fabrication, with over twenty years in the industry. Born in Italy and emigrating to the US as a young child, Ann started working in her father’s company as a teenager, and also became the youngest member and treasurer of the Lodi, New Jersey Chamber of Commerce at the age of 19. It did not take her long to take the business world by storm, helming her father’s business by the 1980s, carving a beautiful niche in a male-dominated industry.
Antonella appears regularly as a stone and tile expert on the DIY Network’s “Man Caves” and “Amish Renegades,” NBC’s “House Smarts,” HGTV’s “Hi Low Projects,” and on Joan Hamburg’s radio show home segment. She also is a contributor to numerous stone-and-tile trade publications, and nationally syndicated design magazines like Better Homes and Gardens, and her advice column “The Tile Oracle” appears monthly in The Record, her columns The tile Commandments is published monthly in Homescape magazine which can be read on NewJersey.com. A portfolio of her work can be found online at www.antonellaromano.com.

It did not take her long to take the business world by storm, helming her father’s business by the 1980s, carving a beautiful niche in a male-dominated industry.

Antonella has worked with celebrities and politicians including Diana Ross, Tom Selleck, Brooke Shields and Eddie Murphy, to Senator Frank Lautenberg, Joan Hamburg and Rudy Giuliani. Her work can also be seen in commercial settings such as universities, medical centers, and even in The Oasis, a non-profit homeless shelter where she donated her time—and three floors worth of stone and tile. Her work is heavily represented in famous hotels like the St. Regis and Trump’s Tower. Her extensive experience has warranted Antonella the reputation as a leader in the industry and a seat at the international round table discussions regarding manufacturing trends and machinery. She works with a shelter for homeless women in NY, encouraging other women to find that same inner strength and drive.

Antonella appears regularly as a stone and tile expert on the DIY Network’s “Man Caves” and “Amish Renegades,” NBC’s “House Smarts,” HGTV’s “Hi Low Projects,” and on Joan Hamburg’s radio show home segment.
