Why You Must Protect Your Intellectual Property:
Trademarks, Copyrights, and Licenses
Intellectual property consists of patents, trademark, copyrights, and trade secrets. Sandra Cohen will explain how each can be a valuable asset to your business. Protecting your intellectual property is key. Such protection can include federal or state registration in some cases and, in other cases, protecting the secrecy of the information. Intellectual property can also be a valuable income stream, whether it is the “secret sauce” of your business or the ability to license your product or information.
Sandra L. Cohen is a partner in the firm of Epstein & Cohen, LLC. She focuses her practice on business, transactional, corporate, and real estate matters. Cohen has broad-based experience in counseling her clients on all aspects of their corporate life, from formation and organization to sale of the company and all matters that happen during the life of the business, including manufacturing, distribution and licensing arrangements, intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, the protection of proprietary and confidential information, as well as forming, buying, and selling franchises. She is a graduate of Seton Hall Law School (cum laude) and Douglass College, Rutgers University (cum laude), and a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
